Spring onions and chives

Remember the milk bottle hanging planters?  The upside down tomatoes don’t do as well as the ones on the ground but it can work and will even give you a few tomatoes.  I won’t do it again unless I’m really short of space.

The ones that do really well in these containers are spring onions and chives!  I think if you decorate the bottles, they may even look quite pretty with chives and spring onions along the fence 🙂

I’ve also tried oregano, thyme and mint with varying results, again due to inconsistent watering.  I’m going to try strawberries and other hanging plants.

Now that we’re making milk kefir, we have even more empty milk bottles to upcycle.  More ideas please!
